Truth in Ancient Teachings

Eckhart Tolle is a gifted spiritual teacher. In the opening chapter of his book, A New World, he identifies two common themes shared by mankind's greatest religions and spiritual teachings. The first is the idea than our normal awareness is flawed. In our normal state we are missing the mark, or missing the point of reality. Given our history of war and violence, it is hard to argue with this first theme. We seem to be always on our way somewhere, often unhappy with someone or something over perceived wrongs. So much of our lives are spent looking for the next person or event to make us happy. Seldom do we find what we are looking for and when we do it seldom lasts.

The flaws in our normal awareness are not hard to see. It is not to say we do not have our moments of great joy. It is the point that joy seldom lasts. I love Tolle's example of the unhappy guy who wins the lottery and lives the same unhappy life in more luxurious surroundings. Spiritual wisdom teaches that true joy comes from within.

Eckhart Tolle says that the world's great religions share two common themes. What then is the second? The second is the possibility of transformation. Redemption, salvation, awakening, or enlightenment - all refer to one core idea. The idea that man has the capacity to change his normal state of awareness and to wake up. Waking up is the clear goal of most spiritual seekers and the hidden goal of most of us who just want to be happy.

Paths to truth are varied, but there is likely only one absolute truth about our reality. Tolle believes he found it through unbearable pain. Others have found it though near-death experiences. My humble suggestion is not to wait for intense pain or a brush with death. If you agree our normal state leaves something to be desired, look for a way to wake up.

In the end we are together. If a path teaches you to blame or find causes of suffering outside yourself, avoid it. Change the world by changing your own mind.

Goal Setting Formula - The Untold Secrets About Goal Setting

No matter who you are in the world today, I believe that if you think deeply, there must be something that you want to achieve in your life. Maybe you want to be rich; you want to be a millionaire. Maybe you want to have a good relationship with your love one. Maybe you want to score A's in your exams. Maybe you want to drive a luxury car and live in a big bungalow. Whatever you want to achieve in your life, goal setting can help you greatly in this.

I believe that you know what goal setting is and how it works. The main problem with goal setting is that most people thought that goal setting is just a simple process of writing their goals down. They thought that once they put down in words, things will start to happen magically. Make this clear, goal setting is not a magic pill. And the untold secrets about goal setting is this, actually the key to successful goal setting is not in setting the goal itself, it is the step and strategy that you take after you have set down your goals.

Many people fail to achieve their goals because they just write down their goals and hope that their goals will come to them automatically. If you are really serious about achieving your goals, then you must follow these simple but yet powerful steps below right after you have set your goals.

1. You must develop strategies. Goals are something that keep you on track and keep you focused. However, it is the strategies that you take that will bring your goals come true. Therefore, you must develop strategies and action plan on how you can achieve your goals.

2. Take at least 3 action steps everyday right after you have set your goals. Nothing is going to happen without action. It is the action that produces results. If you are not taking any action, your goals will never come true. So commit yourself to take at least 3 action steps that will get you closer toward your goals everyday.

3. Visualize and imagine the outcomes after you have achieved your goals every night before you go to sleep. You have to do this. Motivation is the key that will keep you going. You have to keep yourself motivated all the time.

If you are following through all these steps mentioned above, I believe that achieving your goals will not be a problem at all. Remember, the key to successful goal setting is not in setting your goals, the key is what you do after you have set your goals.

Achieving success and reaching your goals is about getting things done. Your Hardest Day In Life

Geared to Struggle

I am aware that every time I use a wisdom construct from a tradition not overtly Christian or Jewish there are potentially people I know who could castigate me for it.So it's important to place a disclaimer on this advice, because the source is not Christian; but it is, I believe, entirely biblical.

Rob Bell of Mars Hill Church, in his book Velvet Elvis says, "If it is true, if it is beautiful, if it is honorable, if it is right, then claim it.Because it is from God.And you belong to God."[1] (Italics mine.)

There's a theological truth in the Shaman philosophy to struggle. This advice is more than just pagan religion.God's truth works, period, as cited above. Here is some of God's truth:

"The spirit of a warrior is not geared to indulging and complaining, nor is it geared to winning and losing. The spirit of a warrior is geared only to struggle, and every struggle is a warrior's last battle on earth. Thus the outcome matters very little to him.In his last battle on earth a warrior lets his spirit flow free and clear. And as he wages his battle, knowing that his intent is impeccable, a warrior laughs and laughs."[2] (Italics in original.)

'Every struggle being the last battle on earth' is significant. It means this warrior focuses so much on the present issue and all it demands of him or her that their chances of success are maximised. They are as efficient as possible.

Perhaps the warrior also keeps things as simple as possible, not cluttering their thinking with indulgences, complaint or thinking of winning or losing. They might focus on the process and not the outcome. They ensure their 'intent is impeccable' so that the spirit within is free and clear to flow in the right direction and at the right rate. One this method is employed they have little need of anxiety, hence they can 'laugh.'

We're geared (or organised) to struggle. That's why we have God.After all, 'all things are ours.'We have a tip here regarding intent. How can we make our intent more impeccable? How can we resiliently struggle better, and perhaps even enjoy the struggle?

Struggle is an opportunity to inspire.

Money Affirmations - Why Are Affirmations Often Spoken in a "Dreamy" Voice?

"All these suggestions must be made in a monotonous and soothing voice (always emphasizing the essential words), which although it does not actually send the subject to sleep, at least makes him feel drowsy, and think of nothing in particular."

The above words were written by Emile Coue (1857-1926), a French physician who is considered by many to be the father of autosuggestion. While most people today have never heard of Coue, many have heard his most famous affirmation: "Day by day, in every way, I am getting better and better."

These were the types of affirmations Coue told his patients to repeat to themselves before going to bed each night. And, as indicated in the above quote, he found that using a "monotonous and soothing voice" added to the effectiveness of the affirmations.

Coue's Goal: Autosuggestion

In essence, Coue was asking his patients to use these affirmations as guided and conscious "suggestions." His goal was that the patients' unconscious minds would accept these suggestions as new instructions on how to proceed from that moment onward. When the suggestions were accepted, the unconscious mind began working on those new instructions automatically, thus moving the patients from a state of "suggestion" to a state of "autosuggestion."

In other words, at some point, the patients no longer had to consciously say the affirmations to themselves since their unconscious minds had been "re-programmed" to conform with whichever affirmations were made. If, however, the patients' unconscious minds did not accept the suggestions made through the affirmations, then no state of autosuggestion would occur.

Or, more precisely, the patients' unconscious minds would continue to act upon the old suggestions that had been accepted in their past; that is, their unconscious minds would continue to act upon their old auto-suggestions.

Affirmations and the Laws of Suggestion

Coue wrote about this process, referring to the phenomenon as "The Laws of Suggestion." He maintaining that from the time of birth, we are all naturally exposed to different "suggestions," depending on the people and situations we grow up around. Those suggestions that are accepted by the unconscious mind become auto-suggestions, thus perpetuating that particular view of the world.

Coue pointed out that the process of suggestion and autosuggestion was a natural one that most people never became aware of. For those who did become aware of it, however, it could be used to consciously and deliberately re-program the unconscious mind to automatically work in a way that better served the person's highest good.

There is much more to the story of Emile Coue, so watch for the subsequent articles that will be written on this man and his powerful findings in the realm of affirmations, suggestion and autosuggestion.
