How to Motivate Yourself With Funny Motivational Posters

If you're having a bad day, you could use some funny motivational posters. There are tons to choose from out there. You owe it to yourself to get a couple of good ones.

Find a Site

Humor has truly found a large market these days. This is simply because everyone needs a good laugh especially in these difficult times. Often, the source of a good laugh can also become your source of motivation. If you want to smile everyday, you should have a couple of humorous motivational posters around you.

There are actually a lot to choose from online. Searching for funny posters is perhaps the most enjoyable form of shopping you can ever get into. Browsing through a variety of funny pictures and lines can already make your day. If you are not looking for a site with a printing service, any site will do for you.

Search for the Right Poster

You may not be able to immediately settle on just a couple of posters. This is because there are a lot of different choices. The only way you can find the perfect posters would be to consider your own sense of humor. You might have a mild sense of humor for example, in which case funny baby animal pictures might just be the kind that can push your funny button.

You might also be on the other end of the spectrum and would prefer bawdy or risky humor. Do take care when you pick your poster themes and captions though. Some forms of humor can be a bit hurtful for others. You might want to display your posters where lost of people can see them, in which case, you need to have themes that are universally inoffensive.

Create Posters

Some sites will allow you to customize. Some people may want to specify their own printing material or the frame they want to use. There are a couple of sites though where you can get photos and create your own captions. Maybe you heard a funny quip from a motivational speaker in Colorado and would like to use that instead on your poster. If on site customization is not possible, you can just use photo software to make your own posters. Just make sure you check the terms for photo use on the site.

Buy a Poster

There are always some sites that will let you print their images fro free. It might be a better choice though to simply buy your motivational poster online. Buying online will save you the hassle of having to print on your own. There are sites that can also guarantee quality printing.

Show Your Poster

The final step to truly motivate yourself to get up, smile and change the world is to display your posters. Funny motivational posters can truly make a difference when they're the first things you see. There's nothing like being reminded everyday that life isn't just filled with stress and work reports.

Make the Life Changing Experience of a Reiki Master Course

In my Reiki Master Course I describe Reiki as multidimensional, because it goes to the core of the imbalance in mind, body, or spirit, the nucleus of the cell, and then moves imperceptibly outward through the tissue balancing and thus healing.

The Reiki (ray - key) practitioner's body is the instrument through which universal energy flows drawn by the magnet of any imbalance in the mind, body, or spirit of the person, animal, or plant receiving.

Reiki Master Course Intro 1

What is Reiki?

Usui Shiki Ryoho (the Usui System of Natural Healing), known as Reiki, is a form of healing and spiritual awakening, received and developed 100 years ago by a Japanese man, Mikao Usui, and brought to the West via Hawaii in 1937.

In summery, it can be stated that the Reiki Therapy is a synergistic combination of 'spiritual healing'
and 'energy healing' techniques, and self-developmental practices.

While the system has been influenced by spiritual and therapeutic discipline, practice and ideals
found within Shinto, Buddhism (and possibly Taoism), Reiki itself has no specific religious
affiliation.

Reiki Master Course Intro 2:

What can Reiki be used for?

Reiki can be used for many ailments like reducing stress, relieving pain, headaches, stomach upsets, back problems, asthma - respiratory problems, PMT, menstrual problems, sinus, anxiety and many more. You can find treatment suggestions for specific problems under the button "How to use Reiki". (Please observe that Reiki should never be used instead of medical treatment, it should be used as a compliment and a way to become and remain healthy.)

There is no belief system attached to Reiki so anyone can receive a Reiki treatment or a Reiki attunement. As in any healing the first step towards a healthier life is a desire to be healed.

Reiki - a powerful and gentle healer:

* Promotes natural self-healing
* Balances the energies in the body
* Balances the organs and glands
* Strengthens the immune system
* Treats symptoms and causes of illness
* Relieves pain
* Clears toxins
* Adapts to the natural needs of the receiver
* Enhances personal awareness
* Relaxes and reduces stress
* Promotes creativity
* Releases blocked and suppressed feelings
* Aids meditation and positive thinking
* Heals holistically

Reiki Master Course Intro 3:

The Reiki principles are essential to our survival!

As a part of the Reiki Master Course you will learn the Reiki Principles, which the founder Usui always gave to his student. These principles are:

Just for today...

- Do not get angry.
- Do not worry.
- Be grateful.
- Work hard.
- Be kind to others.

Think for a moment. If only 1% of humanity would stick to these principles, how would be the world look like today?

Entrepreneurs Building Businesses Upon Solid Business Acumen and Inner Spiritual Wisdom

The ePreneur is an up-and-coming concept in the world of entrepreneurs. The "e" in ePreneur stands for "enlightened." Well, I'm not so sure about the enlightened part! Perhaps it's better to say that the e encompass all entrepreneurs who desire to build their businesses upon the foundational mix of solid business acumen and inner spiritual wisdom.

Today's ePreneur apologizes neither for being financially prosperous nor for including the spiritual dimension in their business. The accumulation of wealth and success goes hand-in-hand with being spiritual, to the ePreneur.

If You've Seen One Prosperity, You've Seen Them All

Many people mistakenly believe that there are many definitions of prosperity. I disagree. There is but one definition of prosperity with limitless ways to manifest it in your life.

Prosperity is a successful, flourishing, and thriving state of being. It is most commonly associated with being financially prosperous. It's about both energetic alignment with the state of prosperity and to the manifestation of things. The key here is the order in which things are done. First comes alignment with prosperity. Then comes manifestation. Get them backwards and what do you have? Greed.

Many people struggle with their desire to be rich. They think that being rich will interfere with being spiritual. First of all, we are all spiritual beings, so "rich" hardly has the ability to interfere with that. We give rich too much credit. Being rich and successful is simply a manifestation of the aligned state of prosperity.

The Difference between Need and Desire

"More" is a great feeling. Or is it? Seems to me there are really two sides of more. There is the side of more that comes from incompleteness and the side that comes from completeness. One holds the energetic vibration of lack and scarcity; the other holds the energetic vibration of prosperity and abundance.

Which type of more do you have? Let's find out. Think of something you want more of. More money? More success? More time? Think about your more for a moment.

Does your more feel like a longing for something or a wanting more of something? If it's longing, that's need.

Does your more feel like excitement to receive or craving to have? If it's excitement to receive, that's desire.

Does your more feel like the experience of connection and the feeling of completeness or the experience of disconnection and the feeling of incompleteness? To find out the difference, read on.

Enter, Your Inner Samurai

The experience of connection and the feeling of completeness are signs of your relationship with the Infinite. I call this the relationship you have with your inner knower--your "Inner Samurai." Connection is the inner part of the Inner Samurai. Completeness is the Samurai part. Both connection and completeness are needed and represent a symbiotic relationship. To come into harmony with your desire is to come into harmony with your Inner Samurai.

When you are connected to your Inner Samurai, desire easily and effortlessly flows forth. You naturally feel joyful and excited about what you desire. That's because you are in alignment with the Infinite. Conversely, when you are disconnected from your Inner Samurai, you are caught in the illusion of separation, and the stream of flow is disrupted. Lack pours forth in the form of need, from this place.

Sometimes there is a seemingly indistinguishable line between filling a need and expressing a desire. Plus, desire has been given a bad rap: Desiring more is bad and being content with less is good. Enough of that kind of thinking! Desire is a natural part of us. Without judgment, without reproach, desire just is. The ePreneur knows that desiring more isn't the issue. Knowing the difference between need and desire is.

You Complete Me, Don't You?

To need something is to believe that some external thing will complete you. Need stems from the belief that without something outside yourself you are incomplete. The quintessential characteristic of need is that the experience of its fulfillment is short-lived.

Need, flowing from incompleteness, attempts to fill a bottomless spiritual hole with material things. To need something is a statement that something needs to change in order for you to be happy. The ePreneur knows that no amount of material stuff can fill a spiritual hole. Only connection to the Infinite can. We begin to manifest what we desire the moment we let go of our external need for completeness.

Today's ePreneur knows it isn't about choosing between being rich or being spiritual. It's all about being connected to your Inner Samurai.

You Can Have It All

Aloe Vera - Is It Just A Laxative (Part I)?

Herbs have been used as medicines for thousands of years. Till recently people relied on traditional systems of medicine that were based on observational analysis, It is only now that scientific methods have evolved enough to allow experimental research. However, this does not denigrate the observations made over centuries. Plants used in folk medicine are still the main source of drug discovery and development. Modern medicine may have the tools but nature still has all the compounds.

One promising herb that is often unrecognized for all its medicinal properties is Aloe Vera. This herb seems to be the complete package for a good life. Its active ingredients can not only detoxify the body of harmful toxins but also rid the body of excess adipose tissue in a harmonious way. Aloe Vera is an excellent choice for a clean and healthy life. The herb also has appreciable beneficial effects that protect the skin from the elements.

Aloe Vera draws the heat out of burns, soothes and softens the skin just minutes after being applied. Sunburnt, dry or cracked skin and scrapes can all benefit from a slathering of Aloe Vera gel. It is said to maintain beauty, smoothen wrinkles, and brighten the face. Nature packs Aloe Vera in ready-to use leaves, (just break off a leaf and squeeze the gel onto a burn or bruise) but its effectiveness and quick action is greatly facilitated by processing its active principle.

Description:

Aloe Vera has a long history as a multipurpose folk remedy. It has been exceptionally recognized for its healing properties for over eighteen centuries. Being a desert plant it needs very little water and is an ideal houseplant. While it grows wild in the dry mountains of Yemen, commercial cultivation of Aloe Vera is done in the high deserts of Texas and Mexico. Worldwide, there exist hundreds of species of this succulent, yucca-like plant, but those most often used are Aloe Perryi Baker, Aloe Ferox and the most effective species Aloe Vera barbandensis, simply known today as Aloe Vera.

Components of Aloe Vera:

The plant can be separated into two basic products - The Gel and the Latex.

Aloe Vera gel is the leaf pulp, or mucilage, a thin clear jelly-like substance obtained from the tissues that make up the inner portion of its leaves. The gel contains carbohydrate polymers, such as gluco-mannans or pectic acid, plus various other organic and inorganic compounds. It relieves pain, speeds-up healing, protects from frostbite and is used to control eczema and psoriasis. It is widely used in a variety of forms such as lotions, moisturizers, cosmetics, and shampoos.

Aloe Vera latex, commonly referred to as "Aloe juice," is a bitter yellow exudate from the pericyclic tubules just beneath the outer skin of the leaves. For pharmaceutical use as a laxative (to promote bowel movement), the juice is often dried to produce "Aloe Vera" granules that are dark brown from exposure to air. In the past, exclusive use of the Aloe latex led to the widespread belief that Aloe Vera was no more than a laxative.

The terms "gel" and "juice" are not always clearly defined by manufacturers and often are confused by consumers. The juice of the Aloe Vera leaves has efficacious cleansing agents that help in detoxifying and excretion of toxins. It is only now that we are beginning to realize its potential to effectively control weight loss on a long-term basis.

Aloe Vera in Weight Loss:

Obesity has become an epidemic in our times. Up till now weight loss remedies had numerous problems. Weight loss diets used to involve distressing diets and workouts that involved a major disruption of daily living. A greater problem was to maintain the ideal body weight for any length of time. An increasing appreciation of natures potential and relentless research into age-old wisdom has finally found an ideal weight loss supplement: Aloe Vera.

Aloe Vera is increasingly being recognized as one of the best agents to promote weight loss. The Aloe Vera gel is an effective agent not only to reduce but also to stabilize the body mass index. The Aloe Vera gel action on body weight is multi-pronged, making it suitable for varied population groups and individuals. Aloe Vera has something to offer to everyone.

Aloe Vera stimulates the metabolic rate in the liver cells helping us to burn more energy. The activity of each cell rises and more heat is generated. The increasing amount of fuel required for this task is derived from fat and carbohydrate stores of the body. This has a direct effect on the body mass index. Thus taking Aloe Vera supplements is akin to doing multiple workouts over a week.

Aloe Vera also has a high content of "Collagen Protein". Supplementing Aloe Vera in the diet increases protein intake. Proteins are difficult to digest and the body spends more energy assimilating them into the system. This additional expenditure of energy is well suited for someone who wants to exchange flab for brawn. Imagine a supplement that builds you up while burning your fat stores at the same time.

As mentioned above, Aloe Vera decreases the transit time that food spends in the intestine. The faster food moves the less is absorbed, enhancing the above actions of Aloe Vera on the body mass index. Little wonder then that some of the names ascribed to this medicinal herb over the years include "The Dietary Plant" and "The Harmony Remedy"!

Coming soon, Aloe Vera as a Detoxifying Agent and how Aloe Vera helps combat baldness.

Submit Your Link to Yoga Directories

Submit your yoga web site's link to online yoga directories so that students can find your classes and services. The right yoga directories will not only send a trickle of traffic directly to your yoga web site, but also help your site show up higher in the search engines. Get your site onto page one of Google for yoga in your area, and would-be students will flock to your site.

Where is your yoga web site in Google right now?

Is your yoga web site lost in Google? Most yoga searchers won't look past page one or two when searching for yoga class information, so it's important to help your would-be students find your web site and yoga classes easily.

Just like in a brick-and-mortar yoga business, the most important factor for your yoga web site's success is "location, location, location." And in this case, the location you want is on Google's first page of search results, using the most popular search terms for yoga in your area.

One of the easiest ways to claim your stake on this coveted search engine real estate is to submit your yoga site to various yoga directories online.

What is a yoga directory?

A directory is a site that lists links to web sites grouped by topic. There are general directories, which may have a yoga section in addition to other, unrelated topics, and then there are niche yoga directories, which only list yoga links. You may even find directories that only list links for a subset of yoga, such as Ashtanga Yoga, Kundalini Yoga, or Kripalu Yoga.

As a general rule, it's a good idea to submit your yoga link to any directory that will bring you web traffic and/or help boost your site's rank in search results pages. You want to earn as many links from other related sites as possible to your web site not only to get traffic from those sites, but more importantly, so that Google and the other search engines will consider your site an authority on the subject you and the other sites cover.

Become a yoga "authority," and search engines will bring you traffic.

Authority web sites rank higher in search engine results pages. The higher your site ranks for yoga terms people actually search for, the more traffic you get. The more traffic, the more yoga students.

Some sites will ask you for a reciprocal link. Keep in mind that linking to another site is like casting a vote for it, and the content on that site is like an extension of your own site. Consider carefully who you link to. For instance, you may not want to link to the yoga studio down the street from you, they're a competitor. And you don't want to link to a site that holds no benefit for your yoga site visitors. They won't appreciate it if you waste their time with useless links.

More considerations for yoga link exchanges and paid listings:

Another thing to look out for when exchanging links or paying listing fees is to make sure you get what's called a "direct link" to your yoga site. Some yoga directories don't actually link directly to you, but instead link to themselves then redirect the traffic to your site. An easy way to tell if this is happening is to put the cursor over a link in the directory to see what address shows in the bottom of the screen. If the url of the web site being linked to doesn't show up, it's a good sign this isn't a direct link.

Another trick link directories employ is what's a called a "nofollow" link. This looks like a direct link -- when you mouse over a link, the actual web site's url shows up. But the directory has inserted some code -- either into the link itself, the meta tags in the header of the page, or in a file called robots.txt -- to keep search engines from following the link.

What this does is set up a condition so that human visitors will see your link and can click to your site, but your web site won't get the benefit of a "vote" from the directory. That means your yoga web site won't get a bump in search engine results. The easiest way to detect "nofollow" links is to use the Firefox browser with an add-on called SearchStatus. SearchStatus will display "nofollow" links with a pink background.

Directories use these strategies so that they will maintain higher listings than the sites they link to. It's fine to submit your site to these directories, but think twice about linking back to them from your own yoga site. If it's a high-volume directory (like the online Yellow Pages, for instance) it might be worth it. Otherwise, a link back is not worth it, and neither is paying for a link, in most cases.

Though directory links and links from a list of links don't count towards authority as much as a link surrounded by a few paragraphs of text (called a "contextual link"), general directories with yoga sections and niche yoga directories are a great place to start in building links to your yoga site. It's easy, and it's free.

Get more students: Submit your yoga URL!

Yoga directories are a great tool you can use to drive more traffic to your yoga web site and earn more yoga students, so start submitting, and please stop in to let me know how it goes!

Self Esteem - Mistaken Beliefs and Positive Affirmation

Welcome to the May installment of the Upper Peninsula Life Coaching Newsletter! This month we will be taking a something that effects us all at one time or another - Self Esteem.

When it is good we feel as though we are on top of the world. However when it is not good we can often feel as if we are frozen. That "thing" is of course our self esteem. When our self esteem is low it can often seem as if there is nothing we can do, and if we can do it we can't do it right! This is not true however! I know you are a smart vibrant individual, and by using the steps in this newsletter you can know it too!

What is Self Esteem?

Self esteem is the way that we view ourselves. This can include how we view our physical self, do we like the way we look; as well as how we view our inner selves, do we like who we are as a person? Self image can serve to both help us or hinder us. A positive self-image can serve as fuel to keep you moving through difficult situations; while a negative self esteem acts like a boot on the wheel of a car; the car will run but it can't go anywhere!

How can we improve our self esteem?

One of the key components to improving your self esteem is to identify what concepts you are holding about yourself are harming you and holding you back. Do you ever think:

"I'm SO stupid! Why did I do that?"

"I don't know why I even try, I never do anything right!"

"Of course they dumped me, I'm such a loser who would want to date me?"

If so, then these thoughts are supporting your negative self image. It is important to replace these mistaken beliefs with positive thoughts, or affirmations, that serve to support what a wonderful and intelligent person you are! For example:

"I did my best, next time I will do something different."

"Well even though that didn't work, I am proud because I did the best I could!"

"I am sad that it didn't work out, but I am a good and interesting person who will find that someone who is right for me."

Keep a journal of your negative self thoughts for one week, then think of a positive counterpart to replace the negative thought with. Write the positive thought on cards and carry them with you as a reminder to stay positive!

Giving A Speech

It is said that next to death our greatest fear is making a speech. For most of us being asked to speak before an audience causes us to panic. Our stomachs freeze up and our heart races. This can happen even if we have experiences of successful speeches. Fear freezes us up.Unlike most people I actually enjoy being in front of an audience. I suspect that like people who enjoy writing there is a 5-10 % of the population who enjoy speaking. It's interesting that people who write well are not necessarily good speakers. I owe my love of writing to my mother who made me write weekly letters to her mother.

Like most people I was scared of speaking in public since I was shy. One of my high school teachers thought the best thing was to deceive me into debating. He made me a researcher for the debate team. I worked closely with the three man team and was quite animated in private while arguing points. A few hours before the debate my teacher said that one member of the team could not made it. Therefore I had to go on and do his bit.It so happened that the 'missing' person was the leader and so I had to speak first.

Several decades later I an recall vividly how scared I was. My teacher assured me I would do well. His first advice was to view the audience like my friends and family."You are quite fluent among your friends. This is just a slightly larger group."
Then he gave me a tip that was a virtual lifeline. " Choose a friendly face in the audience and speak as if you are talking to that person."

I chose the sister of one of my school friends. Little does she know that her smiling, comforting face prevented me from collapsing on stage. That night I spoke in passionate tones to just one member of the audience. Following my teacher's advice I spoke slower than normal and imagined my voice hitting the wall at the end of the room and coming back to me. When we finished that night my friends crowded around me and congratulated me on leading the debate team to a big win. Among that group was the leader of the team who was 'ill'.My teacher then confessed his ruse to get me going as a speaker. I have not looked back since that first time. Though when I still remember how I feared the room would open up and swallow me.

Among the things I would emphasize is the need for preparation and structure . It is often amusingly said that all you have to do is tell the audience what you are going to say, tell them and then remind them at the end of what you told them. This is like a famous folk story about the success of a village fool as a teacher.

The Village Fool wandered to a town far away from his home. The town was expecting a famous scholar and mistook the Fool for him. They rushed him to the town hall and implored him to teach them.

Stunned, but living by his wits, the Fool thundered to his rapt audience:" Do you know what I'm going to teach you?"
" No,we don't,"they replied adoringly.

" You are too ignorant for me to teach" said the Fool storming out of the hall.

The audience rushed after him begging him to teach them again. He agreed to do so a week later. In the meantime he attended many events but spoke sparingly. All were convinced of his wisdom.

The next time he ascended to the platform and gravely asked the same question as he did the previous time.
" Do you know what I am going to teach you?"

This time the audience shouted gleefully: " Yes ,we do."

The Fool smiled and said as he left," Then my work is done. You already know all. "

The audience was amazed and thought that the Fool was truly wise so they asked him to speak to them one more time as they felt they knew the best response to his question.

So when the Fool got up and asked in his confident way,"Do you know what I am going to teach you?" half the the crowd said "Yes" and the other half said "No".

The Fool smiled. Then said " Well, those who know will teach those who don't know."

The Fool then left the town with all in awe of his wisdom.

Another useful tip is to establish rapport with your audience, say something that links you to them. Also it's never a good idea to try to speak about something you are not passionate about. You need the energy of you belief to move you and your listeners. It is absolutely critical that your speech has 'bridges' in it to help your listeners to cross from one idea group to another. You must give clear indications when you are moving on. So transitional phrases like "As an example of this" or "This brings us to the larger problem of," assist in understanding.

Do develop a sense of your listeners' engagement with you. Keep an ebb and flow as you go though the stages of your speech. In time you'll learn to create anticipation For example I have listened three times live to Harv Eker's Millionaire Mind Evening speech and I always marvel at how comfortably he paces the speech.Observing him close up I noticed that he seemed to 'play' the audience's energy level.Like actors, successful speakers have a great sense of timing. They speak 'to' people not 'at' people. They are aware that they have to fine tune their ability to receive responses from their audience and keep reacting to them.

When you are preparing you speech establish clearly what your central speech focus is.In one sentence, like a corporate mission statement, you must be able to say what your speech is about.Preparation is in two main parts --content and delivery. After you have got clear what you want to say practice and practice often.Observe yourself in a mirror. Try different shadings of voice. Observe your facial and body movements as you say certain parts. Record yourself on video and critique yourself. Don't be too harsh on yourself. Pay attention to what you are doing right and build on that.Above all remember that you must make eye contact with the people in front of you. Don't make the mistake of keeping eye contact with the paper on which your speech is written!

My advice is to have key points and an outline on index cards. It is possible to train yourself to speak from memory especially if you rehearse often. Work on having a memorable ending. Study good speeches and model your ending on theirs. Your audience should leave with a feeling that their time was spent in a worthwhile way.

Finally ,today, I recognize that the best way to work with people is to deal with their fears about speaking and doing well before others. I use a simple tapping and affirmation process called Emotional Freedom Technique. It has helped many with performance anxiety.

Going To Heaven Or Not

Web Site Strategies For Construction and Real Estate Companies

I just received a press release from a company announcing the launch of their new corporate web site. The release was filled with all sorts of jargon with a link to the new site, but getting to the meat and potatoes of the site was not so simple. Its flash feature took forever to process and I eventually lost my patience. It wasn't worth the wait. Here's my advice to construction and real estate companies when it comes to web site design:

Avoid flash. Flash features do more to annoy prospects than win them over. It's likeusing the phone and being placed on hold. Nobody likes to wait.Show me a website that takes too long to navigate and I'll show you a company that loses more clients than it should.

Avoid jargon and communicate clearly. Simple messages stating what you do and why you should be hired work best.

Make it easy to navigate and don't bury your contact information. Make it easy for clients to contact you and you'll win new jobs. Make it difficult and see good prospectsdisappear.

Provide useful information. Clients want to know what you can do for them. Companies that understand this concept tend to do better at marketing and recruiting than companies that don't.

Add a blog to your web site. Blogging kills two birds with one stone. It helps construction and real estate companies appear higher on the search engines and it's an easy place to provide information for clients you want to reach.

Attracting clients and winning new jobs does not have to be complicated. It's about letting them know you exist, communicating what you can do for them, and then making it easy for them to contact you. Keep it simple and improve your chances at being successful.

Are We on the Wrong Path? Eastern Philosophy's Approach to Self-Fulfillment & Sustainable Happiness

Being born and raised in a western culture, I found it very difficult to train my mind to embrace the eastern philosophies of Buddhism and Zen. Some of you may be asking, why consider eastern philosophy at all? Well, I have come to realize that there are fundamental flaws in western philosophy as practiced in America. Many of us know that these flaws exist, but are so consumed by the dogmatic practices of western philosophy that addressing these flaws can only occur during a catastrophic societal breakdown like what we are currently experiencing with the Wall Street crisis.

Now, why do I use the term flaw? I use this term because there are many instances when western philosophy or customs don't align with the individual, society, or nature. In this specific case, greed was the culprit. Wall Street, our elected officials, and corporate elites may not agree with this assessment, but whose interest would it serve if they agreed with it? Not theirs.

To be fair, greed does not occur on its own. It is nurtured in a western philosophy that is based on the concept of survival of the fittest, which espouses that the more I produce, the more I earn. Now, I have no problem with the purity of this concept provided certain regulations and safeguards are in place to protect the society at large from unscrupulous and unethical business practices caused by greed. The crisis we now find ourselves in was allowed to fester because there were no safeguards and little regulations in place to protect the global public against excessive greed facilitated by:

deceptive bundling of mortgage backed securities by Wall Street executives

predatory lending practices by banks and mortgage brokers

irresponsible and overspeculating by real estate "investors"

All of these groups blindly bought into America's old adage of greed is good (watch Micheal Douglas' portrayal of Gordon Gecko in Wall Street). This philosophy has been celebrated and pushed by America's business elite since the inception of this nation. Facilitated by their money and power, America's corporate elite have used their campaign contributions to our elected officials to create unhealthy alliances that do not serve the best interest of society at large. In addition, special interest lobbying groups funded by these corporate elites have silenced the voice of the common individual. Now, many industries are deregulated in the name of a free marketplace (telecommunications, energy [Enron-Need we forget?], financial markets, and radio broadcasting are some of the now deregulated sectors of our economy). Is greed at play in these markets? Yes. But, why?

Western philosophy pushes the notion and ill-fated practice of pursuing self-fulfillment and happiness through excessive consumption of material goods and services (entities outside of our being). This practice of excessive consumption spawns consumerism, which is fueled by the pursuit and acquisition of the almighty dollar. This is why Americans are constantly chasing the buck and why we go to work everyday, even though we may hate what we do for a living. Our western philosophy has conditioned us to believe that money's ability to buy us things leads to happiness. The problem with this notion is that while money can buy us a sense of safety and security in the form of clothing, food , and shelter, it can't do much more than that. Of most importance to us is that money cannot provide sustainable fulfillment and happiness, because it is an entity outside of our being. Therefore, it does not and cannot address the internal workings of the human spirit.

Western philosophy embraces an outside-in approach to life, which often times leaves the mind, body, and soul defenseless to the world's negative distractions and influences. I am not here to say that eastern philosophy is better than western philosophy. But I am here to present you with an alternative if you find that how you are living your life no longer works for you, society, or nature.

What are the signs that your life no longer works for you? Here are some hints:

You feel disempowered and disempower others versus feeling empowered and empowering others.

Life is not seen as a fun adventure, but rather a required chore.

You can't find or don't even realize that your not living as your authentic self (the essence of what it means to be you, the uniqueness that makes you special).

Eastern philosophies (Buddhism and Zen) are very different from western philosophy, as there are no hard and fast rules that implicitly or explicitly impose their will on individuals to live their life a certain way in order to attain a "material-based" notion of happiness and fulfillment. Still, there are some guidelines. But know that these guidelines are all geared to empowering the individual as he/she relates to the world in a synergistic (balanced) way, leading to sustainable happiness and fulfillment. In the eastern philosophy,

the western philosophy's outside-in approach is replaced with an inside-out approach.

the western philosophy's consumerism is replaced with humility and simplicity.

the western philosophy's survival of the fittest dogma is replaced with embracing and aligning the mind, body, soul, and nature.

In eastern philosophy, no entity is left out from experiencing life to the fullest should it choose to do so. So, what path are you on? Is it working for you? If not, could you use a change in philosophy?

The Operation Pull Your Own Weight Pledge

When you make a promise in writing it carries a lot more weight. Here's an opportunity for you to promise yourself to grow a little bit stronger week after week, month after month, all year long...in writing. Please read it over. Think about it. Then sign it, put it on the wall or the refrigerator as a constant visual reminder of what you expect of yourself. Check it out!

With the goal of becoming a little bit stronger this week than last week, a little bit stronger this month than last month, and a lot stronger this year than last year...

I pledge to...

- Workout two days each week
- For a minimum of 5 minutes/workout (10 minutes/week)
- For one full year, or 52 straight weeks whichever comes first

Functionally and Physiologically Younger

As the result of this commitment I will expect not only to become stronger, but to become functionally and physiologically younger week after week, month after month, for one entire year.

I Will Renew My Commitment

And if at the end of one full year I am significantly stronger, functionally and physiologically younger, I will renew my commitment for another year, year after year as long as I continue seeing significant progress.

Exponentially Stronger

And if the strategy lives up to its claims, I will commit to helping others discover what I've discovered and to take the Operation Pull Your Own Weight Pledge. When and if I do, I also understand that I should expect to grow exponentially stronger as the result. In this light my strength potential is unlimited.

Euthymophobia - Making Peace With Happiness

We have all known people who habitually act in such a way as to ensure that they are not going to enjoy their lives, even though they are in a position to do so. I'm not talking about people who are struggling to fulfill their basic needs with very little opportunity to succeed. The chronically poor, the chronically mentally ill, those who live in regions where there is little hope for more than a meager existence. I'm talking about those who have their basic needs for food, shelter, companionship and health met but who seem to steer themselves consistently towards unhappiness.

Many of us have been taught to believe that we humans are basically rational: we will pursue our own best interests in a relatively consistent and effective manner. But my experience as a therapist and as a student of human behavior have taught me that we often act in ways that serve to prove that our core beliefs about ourselves are right, even when those beliefs say that we should not be happy.

A woman I'll call Janice came to my office some years ago to work on her longstanding sadness and dissatisfaction with her life which at times made it hard for her to get out of bed. She had persistent thoughts of suicide but had never attempted to kill herself. She worked successfully as a nurse, was married (unhappily) to a passive and critical man who had a very hard time understanding her, and they had three teenaged children. She was brought up in a family of eight children where there was frequent and bitter conflict, physical abuse, and verbal putdowns particularly aimed at Janice: she was ugly, stupid, good-for-nothing and would never be successful at anything.

Not surprisingly, Janice came out of her childhood with strong core beliefs about herself: that she was ugly, stupid, and good-for-nothing and would never be happy. Often her core beliefs operated just outside of her awareness which made them particularly powerful in her life.

During our work together, she came to realize that she actually believed that she was ugly, stupid, good-for-nothing, and would never succeed at anything. In fact, she was none of these things. She came to realize that she had made many decisions in her life which had resulting in proving to herself that what her family told her was true.

She married a man who was very critical of her, a man who, when he drank too much, told her she was ugly and stupid. She had little confidence at work although she was an excellent nurse but she always felt that she was going to or had already made many huge mistakes which would get her fired. As her children grew older, she let them take advantage of her and put her down so she would feel guilty and give in to them. They were quite undisciplined and one of them was getting into trouble as school and with the police. She felt that she was a "terrible parent", giving further proof that she could do nothing right.

She was very unhappy but at least she was right about herself! She actively avoided happiness, and by doing so, she proved that her core beliefs about herself were true.

Working her way out of the hole she had dug for herself was no easy feat. She began to see that she could be happier with her life but that she needed to make some changes. She began standing up to her husband and he became somewhat less critical. She began to have a more realistic view of herself as a nurse: that she was competent and caring. She began to be firmer with her children and less susceptible to their guilt-inducing tirades. She began to see that she could be happy, but she also saw that when she began to feel happy, she became very uncomfortable with that and would go back to her old ways of thinking about herself and would get back to her old patterns with her husband, her children and her co-workers But then she would feel down about that-she had come to believe that she deserved better than to feel down on herself for the rest of her life.

At this point in therapy, she needed help seeing that happiness was not easy for her and that she was indeed afraid of it. What she did was to become aware of her emotional reactions to her moments of happiness. She became aware of her automatic fear of feeling good. When she became aware, then she could talk herself through these times, comforting herself and soothing herself as a good parent does with a frightened child: "you'll be all right, you're scared but it's ok, you'll feel better soon, it's ok to feel good about myself." Oddly enough, she had to practice reassuring herself that feeling happy was not so bad after all.

Janice worked on this hard for several months and became more and more used to feeling happy. She was promoted at work which made her uncomfortable but she worked through it and eventually felt proud of her accomplishments. Her children realized she was standing up for herself and they even complimented her on how she seemed happier! This was very exciting for Janice and also hard to take. But she worked her way through it and got used to it.

So, through a year of working on her fear of happiness, she came to peace with happiness and realized that she was no longer afraid of feeling good.

I've seen many people like Janice struggle with their fear and avoidance of happiness. Through conscious awareness and practice changing their thoughts and actions, they have gotten through this and found that happiness was not so bad after all. Strange but true.

8. Im sorry to interrupt, but I wonder if I could have a minute of your time.

Compare your answers to those listed at the bottom of page three under Quiz #2.

Where Does Self-Confidence Come From?

Self-confidence is not something people are born with. It results from a combination of factors:

1. Learned skill: Self-confidence is a combination of skills, not just a single quality. People are not born with it or without it. It can be learned.

2. Practice: Self-confidence comes from practice. It may appear to be spontaneous, but it isnt.

3. Internal locus of control: Self-confidence results from what psychologists call an internal locus (central point) of control. This means that people who are self-directing, who accept responsibility for their own results, have greater self-confidence.

8 Self-Confidence Builders

There are many concrete, specific things you can do to feel more confident in challenging life situations. Make note of those that will help you develop your own sense of self-confidence.

1. Follow your strengths. Self-confidence comes from being the best you possible. It doesnt come from trying to be someone else. It is the result of following paths like these:

Do what comes naturally.

Develop your talents.

Follow your convictions.

Express your own style.

2. Plan ahead. Many people are surprised to hear that self-confidence comes from something as ordinary as planning. But think about it; lets say you are going on a job interview, almost always an anxiety-producing experience. When you are prepared, you feel more confident.

3. Take action. Confidence comes from taking action. Break your challenge down into small steps and take that first step, no matter how small it seems.

4. Study. The more you know about your subject, the more confident you will feel. In fact, the lack of self-confidence almost always stems from a lack of information. Weve all had that sick feeling that we dont fully understand what we are talking about.

5. Act the part. The following tips will help you begin to present yourself in a positive way.

Find a role model. Look for someone who is already successful in your field. Observe him or her and identify for yourself what behaviors convey self-confidence.

Look and act powerful. Watch people who create a powerful impression. It could be a TV anchor, a character in a movie, or a coworker. Imagine yourself behaving in a similar way. For an example, watch the movie Top Hat. Fred Astaire exudes confidence.

Be aware of nonverbal behavior that detracts from presenting yourself with confidence. Ask for feedback from a trusted friend or watch yourself on videotape.

6. Rehearse for success. One of the most important ways to boost your self-confidence is by rehearsing important conversations and presentations. You can never be too prepared. These ideas will help you practice so that you really understand your subject:

Manage your anxiety. Feeling anxious is normal when you are in a challenging situation. The key is learning to manage anxiety so it doesnt paralyze you or diminish your effectiveness.

Get organized. When your materials are prepared and well-organized, you will feel better about your ability to access them. Having information scattered in too many places makes you feel out of control and undermines your self-confidence.

7. Persist. Self-confidence is the result of a lot of hard work. The process takes time. It has been said that success is 99% persistence and 1% talent.

8. Enjoy your success. When you reach your goal, dont forget to give yourself credit for working hard. Be proud of what youve accomplished. Here are some ways you can do this:

Look in the mirror and say to yourself, Good work. Im proud of you.

Think of a way to reward yourself.

Tell others about your success.

Write yourself a letter or explore your accomplishment in your journal.

Draw a picture expressing your achievement.

Answers to Quiz #1

Effective Goal Setting Activities For Success

There are many effective goal setting activities that can be used in all areas of life to help individuals better their own personal experience. Whether you are striving to lose weight or you want to further yourself in your chosen career, there is no mistaking the power of setting goals for yourself. When a person takes the time to state a goal, and then creates a plan that will help them achieve that goal, they have a much better chance of success.

Making a list of all the things you hope to accomplish within a set period of time is a great idea. You can use goal setting forms to do this if you wish. These are really just carefully plotted charts that allow you to keep track of your goals as well as your progress in attaining those goals. If you are trying to better your health by eating sensibly each day or partaking of a specific form of exercise, a chart can be a great ally. Use it each day to track your progress and you are much more likely to stay focused.

If you prefer to use your computer, theres an option available for that as well. Goal setting software usually is comprised of not only worksheets, but calendars and inspirational readings. If you install one of the available programs on your personal or business computer you can note all the advances you are making each day towards your stated goal. One of the benefits of a software program like this is that you can generally utilize items like free wallpaper that has encouraging messages, as well as daily words of inspiration. Its almost as though you have your own silent cheering section pushing you in a positive direction.

You can also look beyond your computer when you are searching for goal setting activities. Reading motivational books is another great source of inspiration for many individuals. If you are just starting out on a new business venture, reading the autobiography of a magnate who worked their way up from almost nothing can help you attain your own goals by showing you that it really can be done.

For people attempting to make positive physical changes in their lives, talking to someone who has lost weight or stopped smoking can be a great way to help stay focused on goals. Quite often, when we are striving towards a personal goal we wonder if can really be done. Being given the opportunity to speak to someone who has attained their own goal, that is similar to your own, is a tremendous source of hope. Use the positive experiences of others as part of your goal setting process and youll soon be the one aspiring others after youve surpassed your own dreams. Goals Or Dreams? Which One is Better?

Just about everyone has dreams. We all do. But not everyone really has set forth conscious goals for themselves to pursue and to achieve in their lives. Why is this and is it better to have goals or is it better to have dreams?

Well, simply put, a goal is just a dream with a deadline. But, it is a tangible objective that you have committed yourself to pursuing and to learning how to make that objective become your reality. So, all in all, it is much more beneficial to set forth a specific goal than it is to just continue to have dreams.

One of the many reasons that people will not make any real attempt at pursuing what they really want in life is to save themselves from disappointment. You may have set forth a goal before in your life and for some reason or another did not accomplish it and now you get the feeling that it is better to not even try.

KEEP TRYING AND MAKE IT REAL...

You may save yourself from the disappointment, but you also guarantee that it will never become your reality if you never even try. And who knows? Maybe that one time in your life that you did fail, you were not aware of all of the tools or methods that you can use to really achieve that desire that you have.

You can stay on one side of the fence and never fail again by not even trying, or you can learn a way that creates a much better opportunity for you to really make something happen. The choice is yours.

ADHD - Do You Want to Know How to Reach Your Goals More Efficiently?

Why would you want to ask for help? The simplest answer is that there is a goal that you would like to achieve that is seemingly elusive, right now; you may or may not have an idea of what is getting in your way.

What goal do you have that seems to be eluding you? Would you be willing to ask for help if doing so would increase the possibility that your dream could become a reality?

You may be in the dreaming stages about something that you would like to make real or you may:

  • be in the stages of thinking about concrete steps.
  • have taken a step or several and are stumped as to what to do next.
  • have taken a few missteps and now believe that the goal is out of reach.
  • have tried to reach the goal and been unsuccessful.

Wherever you are in thinking about or attempting your goals, you cannot do it alone. That is right, you need help. You do not need help because you have ADHD. You need help because you are human, not super human. Ok, maybe you are, but most of us are just mere mortals. We have areas of strengths and weaknesses.

Many with ADHD, after having suffered, perhaps, years of shame from failed accomplishments are reticent to ask for help. Some of us have come to believe that we are not capable of reaching our goal(s) and so we give up, at times prematurely. Others do not want to ask for help, as they do not want to be seen as less than.

Does this resonate with you? If it does, please take some time to reflect on and answer the following questions.

  • What is getting in the way of taking the next step toward reaching your goals? More specifically, what particular tasks are challenging for you?
  • In what ways may your perspective(s) about asking for help in areas that challenge you be holding you back from reaching or even acting on your goals?
  • How would it help you to reach your goals, if you acknowledged that you need help in these areas?

The story below illustrates the advantage of exercising that weak muscle that many of us with ADHD have, asking for help. If you work on strengthening this muscle, take some time to imagine what would be possible with a little help from your friends, family or hired professional(s). Hmmm.

A little boy was having difficulty lifting a heavy stone.

His father came along just then.

Noting the boy's failure, he asked, Are you using all your strength?

Yes, I am, the little boy said impatiently.

No, you are not, the father answered. I am right here just waiting, and you have not asked me to help you.

Spreading the Good Word of God Gently

The other day I was walking through the park when I saw a man, an extremely large man reading the Bible. I was minding my own business like I normally do in full observation mode, just simply enjoying life. When what I thought was a tree reading the Bible, moved and scared the crap out of me. This man was about 6'9" and look like he played professional football but when he spoke it was nonthreatening and very gentle.

Have you read the Bible he said. I thought to myself, you have got to be kidding me. Couldn't this person have been smaller and what's he going to do when I tell him that I have but no longer follow Christianity. I liked my face and the rest of my body, should I lie to this man to save my own life or would he be understanding about my beliefs.

I threw the dice out on the table and told him that I have read the Bible and do not believe it is the word of God, the Creator of the universe. I explained to him that, there is a lot of useful information and some wonderful stories in the Bible but that it could not completely be proven as factual information. I continued to explain to him that there was a lot of information in the Bible that contradicted itself and some that simply wasn't true.

He sat back down on the park bench and asked me to join him. I couldn't resist as I always have enjoyed talking about religion and ready to learn something about this man and why he is a Christian. He started to tell me about some recent events that have happened in his life, some bad, some worse and of course some that he didn't want to talk about. However, he did mention a trip to church a few Sundays ago that changed his life.

I was happy for him that he had found peace but explained to him that he is extremely vulnerable to anything right now that can make a little sense out of his life. Be careful I told him, because you could get caught up in something that feels and sounds good, only to find out later in life, that you have questions about Christianity that can't be answered.

I had a very pleasant conversation with this person and I believe he appreciated a few of the points I made. When people are down and out and their lives seem to be really messed up, they're extremely vulnerable to others religious beliefs, whether they're right or wrong.

Don't force your religious beliefs onto others, be kind and courteous to those who are on the edge and having difficulties in life. Explaining to them about your religion and how it has benefited you is wonderful but it might not be as beneficial to someone else. The next time you plan on converting someone who is down in the dumps, make sure that you understand your own religion before you pass false beliefs onto others.

It's like a cancer spreading through the body, most of the cancer cells don't know what they are doing or how much damage is going to be done until it's too late.

Chakras Book Review

Is the Bible Accurate

I'm going to start with the first book of the holy Bible, Genesis chapter 1 verse one through five. In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form and void and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.

And God said," let there be light," and there was light. And God saw that the light was good. And God separated the light from the darkness. God called the light day, and the darkness he called night. And there was evening and there was morning, the first day.

If the Bible is historically accurate, did God actually create earth. I have been battling over this, my whole life. It's very easy for someone to accept and believe in any religion, government, other people or whatever they truly desire to make real. I see it every day of my life, open your eyes and you will see it to.

It's hard to imagine that a superior entity like God created everything that we touch and see. The moon itself is pretty big and the creation of the sun would prove to be a little more difficult, but if you're God and your all knowing and all powerful, he or she or it, must be one incredible being.

This is only the first couple of paragraphs in the Bible and there is no, I repeat no, historical accuracy to this event. It seems like God or man, whoever wrote the Bible, should have started the Bible with something a little more believable for people that live in the 21st century. It's not hard to imagine someone 2000 years ago, believing in something like this.

2000 years ago the Romans were worshiping their own gods, we might find this ridiculous today but back then the Romans would punish you if you didn't worship their gods. We are not too far from that today. If we don't stop organized religion and their influence on humanity, we're going to have serious problems in the future.

The biggest problem I foresee is common sense. If the Bible has 500 historical accurate facts that can be proven without a doubt by historians, scholars and other intelligent people, but has one thing that can't be explained, how do we handle this. How do we handle the fact that the Bible states God created light? If this is false, what else is false in the Bible.

Greg Vanden Berge is a published author, internet marketing expert, motivational inspiration to millions of people all over the world and is sharing some of his wisdom with experts in the fields of writing, marketing, and personal development. Have you ever really ask yourself Who is, Jesus of Nazareth?

Greg is currently working on a Personal Power Ideas. If you're ever wondering why some people can achieve success, while others seem to struggle aimlessly, what would it hurt, to take a couple of minutes of your time, if you could actually find the truth.

If you're part of a religious organization, and were asked this question, "Whose God Is Better" meaning of course, is your God better and stronger or smarter and better looking than the religious competition. Is this something that you believe or were taught while you were young? Obviously you wouldn't think that the Hindu god Brahma is better than Yahweh or Jesus, if you're a Christian. It just wouldn't make any sense to belong to a religion that was weaker than the competition.

It seems like most religions around the world have gods or even one almighty God that is the biggest and baddest god in the neighborhood, maybe even the entire universe.

If we look at the numbers, the Christian God Jesus of Nazareth is the strongest by far. A survey that was done in 2005, showed Christians 2.1 billion strong and growing. With numbers like this, their God must be doing something right. Do you think these numbers are large because of their financial influences in poor countries? Something to think about, how did Christianity become such a large religious institution. They've got plenty of money and pay relatively little taxes. Remember the golden rule, the person with the most gold makes all the rules.

Second on our religious scale are the Muslims, the Islamic religion has over 1.1 billion followers and that puts it at almost half the size of Christianity, but more than doubled the size of the third largest religion by the numbers.

The third largest religion in the world is Hinduism and most of India which is second only to China as the most populated countries in the world are Hindus. Hinduism ranks around 800 million followers.

I'll stop right there. I wanted to give you an idea of religion by the numbers, realistically the Christians and the Muslims believe in the same God but the Muslims recognize Jesus as a prophet and the Christians don't recognize Mohammad at all and Mohammad is the number one prophet for the Islamic religion. But if we put the two of them together, it would be the largest religion by far with almost no competition economically or with military strength.

So to answer our question," Whose God Is Actually Better", I would have to say the Christian God is the most popular and powerful God and the universe. The only problem is, there's no actual proof that Jesus, Mohammed, Yahweh, Krishna or any other supreme being is real. People follow these religions and base almost everything on faith with very little facts that can actually be proven.

I'm not talking about small facts, I'm talking about big ones like, how the world was created, you can choose to believe, anything that you want but until we have some facts or at least something that sounds pretty good, you should probably stop thinking, that your religion is the only way and your God the best. Show some compassion for other religions around the world, their beliefs are no better or weaker than yours.

How to Find the Best Endometriosis Self Help Program

Endometriosis is a Chronic condition that afflicts over 5 millions women between 20- 40 years old age group in the US alone and increases rapidly in the world population, especially in Asia. It is caused by environmental toxins, unhealthy diet, and recent economical prosperity. During menstruation, the menstrual lining in the inside of the uterus is expelled known as menstruation blood but instead some of the endometriosis tissues growing somewhere else in the body causes endometriosis.

Here are some essential conditions to find the best endometriosis self help program.

1. Qualification of the writer
Since conventional treatment has some success in treating endometriosis but without some side effects, qualification of the author becomes importance. It not only gives you the confidence to follow the program, but it also let's you know that the author also understands the conventional treatment and its side effect. I, myself prefer people with extensive experience in fields of diets and have been working for years with conventional medication and specializing in endometriosis such as dietitian, RN specializing in nutritional supplements, and alternative medicine.

2. Program written must pin point the treatment
The program should pin point the author intentions. How exactly will the program help ??
How long will it take ?? What types of treatment will you get??

3. Details of diagnosis
The program must also pin point each symptoms and causes. Since each woman experiences endometriosis uniquely, the treatment must also be designed specifically and uniquely for each of them.

4. Exact dosage must be given
Most endometriosis health sites only provide general information and for education purposes, it is hard to find any of them with specific dosage of treatment. For paid self help programs, it should provide exactly how much you should take and when is the best time to take them.

5. Must not alter much of the living style in early stage
Starting a new program is not easy. Some self help programs require you to change your diet or life style completely, this is a no-no for a self help program. Since our body requires time to adjust for any changes in the diet, abruptly changing your diet may do more harm than good. The best program should be one that makes you understand how the change will do in treating your disease and give you time to achieve that goal slowly.

6. Diet must be included in the treatment program
Using nutritional supplements or herbs are helpful in treating endometriosis. Without daily intake of healthy food, the program may not work effectively and the time required for the treatment may take longer.

7. Side effects must be addressed in the treatment
Some herbs may have some mild side effects, if taken in large doses or for a prolong period of time. The best self help program should also address that as well.

8. Given time length for improvement
Nutritional supplements and herbs may need time to take effect, but you will feel improvement within few days of treatment. The author should be able to tell you that.

9. Program must be written in daily English and is understandable for the purchaser
Program should be written in easy understanding daily English, you don't want to have a dictionary with you every time you read the program. Technical and medical term should only be used when it is necessary.

10. Refund policy
Even with the best self help program, it may not work for all women. Be sure you buy from one that has been in business for many years, with good reputations and offers at least 8 weeks refund guaranteed.

I hope this information will help and good luck on your treatment.

Five Reasons NOT to Set Goals

Yes, that's my topic in this article. I've heard these reasons, and more, for not setting and pursuing goals. The people that give these reasons really believe them. And, every one of these reasons work!

What does that mean? It means that if you use any of them, they will help you NOT reach your goal!

Reason #1: I don't know how.

A lot of people believe this one. Somewhere along the line they've become convinced that some special training is required before you can set goals and use them to achieve results. Actually, using goals is one of the most natural things you can do. It's an ability that you were born with! What do you do when you decide you want a fresh, home-baked cake for dessert? You find a recipe, follow it, and then enjoy your cake! You had a goal, you took ordered action, and you achieved your result. It really is that natural.

Now, if you want to learn how to use this in-born ability better, there are plenty of us who are willing to help you learn. Just remember that you already know how; now you're just going to improve your ability. In fact, once you decide that you want to improve your ability, you've set a goal. So, take action! Get the help and learn.

Reason #2: My friends/family don't.

You might be right. Perhaps your friends and family don't set goals and pursue them. How are they doing? Are they improving their lot in life? Is their life better today than it was a year ago? Even more importantly, do you want the circumstances in your life to be driven on someone else's values and desires or on your own? Who do you want in charge of your life?

What would happen if you set yourself apart a little and became the first? Perhaps your friends and family don't set and pursue goals because they've never really been exposed to the positive effects of doing so. Maybe they've never known someone who essentially said, "I'm not satisfied with my life the way it is. I'm going to take charge of my life and change my circumstances. I'm not going to depend on someone else to make things better for me!"

Go ahead, become that person. Be the good example to those around you, and show them how pursuing worthwhile goals can improve your life. Maybe you'll be able to help them do the same for their lives!

Reason #3: It's too hard, too much work.

Well, it might depend on the goal you set for yourself! Or, maybe you just don't want the result all that much. That would mean you're looking at the wrong goal. Or, maybe it's the right goal and you really want it. Then what?

In the early 1960s, President Kennedy set a goal for the United States. He declared that the USA would put a man on the moon by the end of the decade! What happened?

President Kennedy set a really difficult goal and the nation responded with...YES, LET'S DO IT! And the rest, as they say, is history.

Setting and achieving goals does take work; there's no denying that. But, if you want something in your life to be different (in a positive way) by this time next year, you'll have to do something to make it happen.

There's an old saying that even a dead fish can float downstream. The fish that wants to go upstream has to put forth some effort. But that fish will probably find fresher water!

Reason #4: I don't want to be tied down to something.

What happens if you set the wrong goal? What if you start working toward something and then find out it's not really what you want? Are you trapped?

No, you're not trapped! Anyone who sets and pursues goals will sometimes find that they've chosen the wrong goal. I've done that myself! Then what? Well, first of all you can change you goals. You're the one that set it; it's your goal. So change it!

As I said, I've done that myself. When I changed my goal, I also realized that I had learned from my experience of pursuing the earlier one. I was actually stronger and knew more because of what I had learned and the work I had done in pursuing the earlier goal. So, now I was actually more prepared to pursue the goal I really wanted.

Reason #5: I might fail.

Yes, you might. There are no guarantees in life. You might set a goal, work hard doing the right things to achieve it, and not make it all the way to the goal. Does that make you a failure?

No, that gives you something in common with all the successful people in the world and in history! Everybody fails at things from time to time. We all know the story behind President Lincoln. He had endured failure after failure before he became president. Then, as president, he still encountered failures. But, nobody thinks of President Lincoln as a failure.

There's an old motto: Try, fail, adjust. That's how you make progress. You set a goal, you do the work you believe will bring success, you check your progress, and you make adjustments to make up for the things that didn't work. Some people call those things that didn't work failures. I don't. I call them integral steps on the way to success!

Just one more thought about this "I might fail" reason. Assume for a moment that you let it stop you from setting and pursuing the goal. You do that because you know that if you try and fail you won't have the goal. Now stop and think for a moment. Will you have any chance at all of having the goal if you don't try? Would that be "failure" too? I thought so.

In closing...

These are just five reasons that some people use as, shall we say, excuses for not pursuing their goals. Don't give in to excuses! Decide what you want and go for it.

There's an old story about two neighbors; let's call them Bob and John. One day John came to Bob's house and asked if he could borrow Bob's axe. Bob said no; John asked again, and again, and again. Finally, John said, "Bob, I really don't understand. Why won't you let me borrow your axe?"

John replied, "Well, if you must know, my wife is in the house baking cookies."

Bob was incredulous! "What does that have to do with my borrowing your axe?"

John answered, "Nothing. But if I'm not going to let you use it, one excuse is as good as another!"

So, before you hang on to your reason for not setting and pursuing your goal, stop and think. Is it a reason or an excuse?

Time Management Strategy- Diary of a Procrastinator

If you suffer from procrastination a good time management strategy for you is to make procrastination enemy number one in your life. Procrastination deprives you of satisfaction, success, and happiness. It causes unnecessary stress, frustration, and pressure in your life. Procrastination is the biggest unnecessary and controllable time waster that exists. So how do you know if you are a procrastinator, and what do you do about it if you are?

If you are a procrastinator, you have probably made procrastination a life-long habit. Your time management strategy is never do today what you can put off until tomorrow. You dont even start something until its almost impossible to complete the project by the deadline. When you finally make the commitment to take action you are a whirl of activity and you dont allow anyone or anything to interrupt you because you have a deadline to meet. If your time management strategy was to approach all your projects with that level of fury and commitment from the moment you were first aware of the project you would have it done far in advance of the deadline and could move on to other things without having to deal with all that unnecessary stress.

Your negative attitude may be the cause or source of your procrastination. Your attitudes drive your behaviors and your behaviors drive your results, so if a negative attitude is fueling your procrastination including affirmations in your time management strategy is a good plan. Affirmations are positive statements about your ability to do the task at hand, the value of the project, the speed with which you can complete the project etc. All re-enforcing the positive impact of successfully completing the project on time or even ahead of time in your life.

Have you ever found that sometimes you procrastinate because of your fear of failure? This one may not be one that you openly admit to yourself, but if you start thinking back to the times you didnt follow up with a potential client or didnt submit your work so it could be considered for an award or whatever you have put off in the past you may realize that part of you didnt want to get things completed because of your fear of what might happen if you failed. A time management strategy for you is to ask yourself what the potential outcomes are when you take the action you are supposed to take, and then make sure you are comfortable with those outcomes.

The opposite of fear of failure is fear of success. Your fear of success can be another reason for your procrastination. You may worry what others will think of your new found success. As part of your time management strategy you may want to explore the impact of succeeding and prepare yourself for the consequences.

Do you find that its hard to complete things because theyre just never quite good enough? Perfectionism can really get in your way. Recognize that perfectionism can never be achieved and that you can only do your best. It is a better time management strategy to just do something than to just keep putting it off. Zig Zigglar is frequently quoted as having said, anything worth doing is worth doing poorly. Perhaps his advice is something for you to take to heart.

Do you ever find yourself just stuck because you arent quite sure how to handle the task at hand? Yet, as you think about when you were in those situations in the past, when you finally got started did you find that it wasnt as hard as you thought it would be? Whether you think it will be hard or if you get stuck working on the project a good time management strategy is to reach out quickly and get the help you need rather than just hoping you will somehow be able to work through it on your own.

The Anchor Holds, Tho the Sails are Torn

Matthew 8:24-26. And, behold, there arose a great tempest in the sea, insomuch that the ship was covered with the waves: but he was asleep.
And his disciples came to him and awoke him, saying, Lord, save us: we perish.

And he saith unto them, Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith? Then he arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm.

The Anchor held in the midst of the storm, the Sails of Faith, were torn and nothing would do except Faith in the Saviour.

There is a tempest in all of our lives one day or another. A Tempest so large we believe that we are to perish in the waves and wind. We all have been there, a death, a lost opportunity, financial ruin, disease, sickness running rampant in our body or our family. But Remember that the Anchor Holds in the Midst of all storms.

Lets read Psalms 89:9, Thou rulest the raging of the sea: when the waves thereof arise, thou stillest them. In 1999, I was pronounced dead of a massive heart attack. My wife, Juanita, Daughter, Tiffine and a close friend, Jack, were there to witness the greatest storm of their lives.

I can't imagine what they were going thru, the tears, pain, suffering, disbelief and hopelessness. Their sails were tearing when this storm came upon them unexpectedly. This was a tempest that they would not want to happen but it came never the less. And as for me, I was without pain for the very first time in my life.

Darkness engulfed me, as it were a soothing blanket, no pain, sorrow, trouble, worrys, I was at peace. There came crys' of painful desperation as My wife, came into the room and declared that the Anchor Holds. The storm was raging and the sails were tearing apart but she knew that Jesus, as the Anchor, was Holding. She turned to the only one that could calm the storm, and with tears of helplessness, she spoke to The Lord God Almighty. Dear Lord, My Husband is dead and we need Him so much.

If it be thy will Lord, give Him back to me, for His work on this earth isn't done. Give Him Lord another chance to make a difference and to preach the Gospel. I need Him Lord, let him return to me. In Jesus Name I pray. Amen.

I came alive and the pain fell on me, as a great millstone falling upon the surface of the waters. God took us both thru the tempest. Her fears were relieved and Her Sails were strengthened, as God wove the Fabric Himself. After Six months of rehabilitation, I was able to preach once again.

These storms, that we all go thou, are storms of testing and storms of faith in the Creator.

There are many storms and tempest in this life, Iraq, Iran, Islam, Murder, Theft, Wars and Rumors of Wars, Doubt, Confusion, Helplessness, and Mens hearts failing them for fear. We mention many false religions because they are storms within themselves, worshiping, dead men, animals, doctrines that were written by man, without the inspiration of God, which all have one thing in common, hatred of Christianity. These storms result in division of nations, wars of idealogical ideas and threats of violence upon the light givers of the world.

These are all signs of the end days, when man is a lover of himself, more than lovers of God, and are lovers of darkness, more than lovers of light. When the sky is blue, we see only rainbows and pretty flowers, but as the unexpected tempest arises, we see doom and despair.

Many, when the tempest arises, have no light to guide them, they run to and fro seeking answers, but none are found.
The sails, are the fabric of the faith, that man has in God, even tho many do not believe and never will. These are the dark clouds that contain no water but are just for show.

Our fabric must be repaired as each new storm arises. Satan trys' to rip and tear at this fabric until the wind passes thru. The wind and sails together move the ship forward upon a set course that will eventually land the believer in the shores of Heaven. But if the sails remain torn and shredded, they stop the forward movement of the ship, bobbing aimlessly, with no direction and no destination.

These rips and gashes are easily seen, The attacks of 911, Iraq, Afghanistan, corrupt government, Islam, Evolution, Storms, Hurricanes, Floods, Fires, and the entire Middle East situation, from Africa to Syria, its all interconnected, to bring about fear to multitudes, shaking the foundation of our spirits.

Lets read Psa 107:25-30 For he commandeth, and raiseth the stormy wind, which lifteth up the waves thereof.
They mount up to the heaven, they go down again to the depths: their soul is melted because of trouble.
They reel to and fro, and stagger like a drunken man, and are at their wits' end.
Then they cry unto the LORD in their trouble, and he bringeth them out of their distresses.
He maketh the storm a calm, so that the waves thereof are still.
Then are they glad because they be quiet; so he bringeth them unto their desired haven.

Barnes states of Psa 107:28 - Then they cry unto the Lord in their trouble Sailors pray. If they do not pray elsewhere, they often do in a storm, when in danger of being wrecked and lost. A storm at sea brings hundreds on their knees who never prayed before - for they feel that their only help is in God, and that it is a fearful thing to die. Then they do right. They do what ought to be done.

But they do then only what people ought always to do, for it is as plain a duty to pray when we are in safety as when we are in danger; when sailing on a smooth sea as in a storm; when on the land as on the ocean. People anywhere, and at any time may die; and people everywhere and at all times should, therefore, call upon God.

Storms, tempests, fire, disease, and danger, only impel people to do what they should do always from higher motives, and when their motives will be likely to be more disinterested and pure. And thru all this the Anchor Holds. When we can do no more, we stand, stand with the anchor down, until the Storm Passes and is subdued. Can we pray for the Anchor to lead us, Guide us and deliver Us from these storms? Yes. The Anchor is always on the ship and is at the ready to aid in times of need. Ars.
